I make Expanded Cinema and documentary films, mirroring mechanics of subjective experience.

Works about what the senses do, where they fail, and what that might say about the nature of reality.

I am fascinated by the gap between what seems to be there and what we actually perceive. My work aims to explore that gap through film installation and poetic documentary. I am interested in how individuals, but also scientific and philosophical frameworks, try to grasp what it means to be conscious, to observe, to exist — from perceptual science and predictive processing to process philosophy. But underneath that is a question I keep returning to: not just how we perceive reality, but what reality is when no one is looking. When does something appear as something? When does it stop being a thing?

In my practice I work with both digital and analog film, and I am drawn to what each medium does that the other cannot. This includes 16mm slow motion cinematography, which I use both in my own work and as a cameraman for other documentary and film art projects. What I am after is work that does not only show something, but puts the viewer inside an experience, and gives that experience room to move.
